Solving problems when connecting accounts

Meta, just like us, is constantly developing its systems and driving the integration of Instagram and Facebook forward. Furthermore, Meta does not allow you to connect all types of Instagram and Facebook accounts. This can quickly lead to difficulties. Here you will find support for setting up your accounts and pages.

Settings, links and permissions

These are the most important settings that must be in place so that you can connect your Instagram and/or Facebook page to markero:
 


One thing in advance:
first make sure that you are logged into Facebook with the right account – the one that your Facebook business page is connected to.


 

Instagram account

✅ Your Instagram account must be a Professional account. This is because Meta does not allow personal profiles to be connected to external tools. To find out more, take a look here: Professional accounts on Instagram ↗️.
Open Instagram and go to settings for professionalsAccount type and tools, you can change the account type accordingly.

Connection Facebook ↔ Instagram

✅ Instagram must be connected to a Facebook page (profiles and professional profiles are not supported).

Set permissions for people, pages and accounts correctly

People

✅ An administrator with ‘full control’ must connect the page. This means that you must first have administrator rights to be able to establish the connection between your Instagram Professional account and the desired Facebook page. You can make these settings directly in the Meta Business Suite ↗️.

Pages and Accounts

✅ All permissions for all pages and Instagram accounts must be selected – even for those that are not connected to your markero account.

 

I still can't connect markero and Facebook

All accounts and permissions are set up correctly, but markero is still showing you the following message:

Please open the Facebook page and create a Facebook business page. Then try again.

This can be due to two things:

  1. You really don't have a Facebook business page, as stated in the message. However, if you have set all the settings exactly as described above, it is definitely because
  2. you are currently logged into Facebook with a different account. It's best to log out of Facebook and then log back in with your business account. Then try again.

 

Adding a newly created Instagram account afterwards

You have already connected your Facebook account and Facebook page and now you want to get active on Instagram as well? You have created an Instagram account for that.

This is how you connect a new Instagram account afterwards:

Convert the Instagram account to a Professional account

  • Make sure you have converted your Instagram account to a professional account, as Meta does not allow connections to standard accounts.
  • Set the required permissions in Meta according to the instructions above.
  • Detailed instructions can be found earlier in this article.

Disconnecting from Facebook

  • Open the settings via this link.
  • Click on ‘Manage social media channels’.
  • Disconnect Facebook there.

Connect Instagram to Facebook

  • Create a new post in Content Creator.
  • Then click on ‘Post now’.
  • You should now be able to successfully connect both your Facebook and Instagram accounts.

‘Follow the instructions on Instagram’ message

When connecting your accounts, you get the message ‘Follow the instructions on Instagram’, but nothing appears there and you can't get any further in markero either?

Follow these steps to fix the problem:

Reload markero

  • On your smartphone: Drag the view down with your finger to refresh the page.
  • In the desktop browser: Click the refresh button on your browser.

Then you should be able to continue.

If the problem persists, check your internet connection or contact support for further assistance.
